ABOUT US
Weeton & Huby Players are a local amateur dramatic group that perform in the Almscliffe Hall in Huby on the A659 between Harrogate and Pool in Wharfedale. We usually perform for 3 nights in either March or November.
We often bow to audience demands to produce comedies or farces and generally don’t take ourselves too seriously
In recent years, Alan Ayckbourn, Neil Simon and Eric Chappell have written most of our productions.
We draw most of our performers and backstage team from the local villages, although if you have a sense of humour and a bit of swagger, you’ll fit in no matter where you live.
Our first performance was “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens in 1922. In 2022 we celebrated our Centenary with our most ambitious production in many years when we performed the JB Priestley comedy classic “When we are Married” with 13 actors onstage and many more than that helping behind the scenes.
We meet regularly as a play reading group in the Almscliffe Hall and this is often a gentle introduction for anybody new wanting to get involved. See our join us page for more info.
Please see our history page for a full list of our previous shows as well as photos and reviews over the years!
